in the news today

I read several articles today. One was about the projected increase of utility bills this winter. It is astonishing that the cost of everything that people need or use on a daily basis can sky rocket so dramatically. High gas prices didn't affect me too much, but my utility bills will.
I also read an article about President Bush's approval ratings. I think the extremely low approval ratings are rightly deserved. I think people are not pleased with some of his decisions and rhetoric. I am one of those people.
I will also admit I did read an article on the TomKat pregnancy.
One article I read was about Tamika Houston. She was a missing person who's remains were found almost a year later. The article was mainly about the fact that the media focuses more on white missing persons than minority missing persons. I believe this is true. It's sad that anyone is missing, everyone should recieve the same respect and coverage regardless of race.

I didn't choose Allstate

I was recently in an auto accident. It wasn't my fault, I was hit by an elderly woman. It has been a few weeks and I haven't had much luck dealing with my own auto insurance or hers. It's like for years you pay all of this money in and when you actually need the services you pay for, you don't get all of this great customer service , you just get a big f****in headache from all of this paper work and phone tag. I feel the same way about my medical insurance, I think I paid in something insane like $27,000.00 over the last 12 years only to recieve statements in the mail about non covered benefits. I know that I have maybe used about $8,000.00 for real medical issues , office visits, lab work and xrays, give or a take 2 MRI's at about $1,800.00 a pop. Will I ever see the real potential in my coverage?? Probly not. That's what you get when you are a hard working schmuck, $2.00 out, $ .02 back. Obviously, I'm not in good hands, maybe I should have chosen Allstate.

my first blog entry

After reading about blogging and always having a thought or two about daily events in my own life and throughout the world I decided to start my own blog.
I chose beefstewfortherestofus.blogspot.com as my address as a poke the the books "Chicken soup for the soul". I think life brings many different things for many different people. I consider my self realistic, sometimes sarcastic. Like everyone ealse, I have my own opinion about most topics. Maybe some of the things I write about you can relate to, maybe not, either way I hope you can appreciate my contribution to the blogosphere.
